Building Blocks is an initiative that drives creative digital media work with young people who have a learning difficulty. Building Blocks has a focus on 'transitions', which supports young people in making the transition to adulthood - supporting confidence, independence and moves to employment and continuing education
Through using a range of digital media techniques combined with traditional creative arts, the young people get the opportunity to express key ideas around identity and also explore themes that will help them make a smooth progression after leaving school.
Using the Digital News Room at Paddington Arts, the young people have access to Apple Macintosh computers and a range of design and editing software. We incorporate a range of activities within our programmes, including digital photography, filmmaking, animation and layout design, which gives the young people confidence in using creative technologies.
We run regular workshops with SEN schools as well as developing one-off projects and after school groups.
